Bruges welcomes the Partial Knee Meeting in January 2018

25 Januar 2018

Bruges is proud to welcome the 3rd edition of the Partial Knee Meeting on January 25th and 26th. Around 300 knee surgeons from around the globe will attend the conference at the Provincial Court on the market square.

The Partial Knee Meeting will discuss the partial replacement of worn-out or arthritic knee joints. Traditionally, knee replacement surgery resorts to the implantation of total knee prostheses. Although this procedure has good results, the outcome only rarely is a “forgotten knee”, a joint that feels completely normal and natural to the patient. Moreover, active and dynamic patients prefer a procedure that allows the best possible knee function, a result that is more often obtained with a partial knee replacement. This procedure also allows both cruciate ligaments to be spared, which leads to better knee stability. The procedure is also less invasive for the patient and allows him to recover faster.

“It is our great honour to organize this fabulous meeting in Bruges”, explains Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Thienpont, MD, MBA, PhD at Cliniques universitaires Saint Luc-UCL, Brussels, Belgium. “We’ll have the best partial knee surgeons from all over the world gathering in Bruges. The city offers culture, history and accommodation of the highest level.

The help we received from the professional team of “Visit Bruges Convention Bureau” was the icing on the cake. Their experience and insights made the organization of this event run smoother and faster. We are already thinking about planning the next edition in Bruges too.”

”Bruges has so much to offer for medical conferences, with all the medical heritage in our city”, says Sarah Cornand, Sales Manager of Visit Bruges Convention Bureau. “We’re very excited Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Thienpont chose Bruges as the destination for the Partial Knee Meeting.”
