Tourism and culture

Bruges is a popular city trip destination. The city regularly appears in top 10 lists of things to see. The city centre – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and the impressive collections by Flemish Masters appeal to visitors from all over the world.

Tourism as an engine for the economy

Each year, Bruges welcomes between 7 and 8 million visitors, the number of overnight stays amounting to 2 million. A very wide range of hotels, B&B’s, restaurants and bars receive these guests with great care and dedication. Employing a total of 6,000 people, tourism is an important engine for the economy.

In order to attract and comfortably accommodate all these visitors, the city has to be easily accessible. Direct links by train and bus from the most important transport hubs and various other European cities make smooth travel in and out of the city possible.

New exhibition and conference building

The new exhibition and conference building, planned to open in January 2022, is the realization of the City of Bruges’s ambition to attract more residential meetings and conferences. The state-of-the-art exhibition and conference building will boast 4,500 square meters of exhibition space, including a conference centre with a maximum capacity of 500 attendants.

With its historical city centre, its art heritage and its excellent infrastructure, Bruges is the perfect location for your conference. Contact Visit Bruges Convention Bureau for more information.
